A woman protected by her mother (māturakkhitā) sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the man of such-and-such a name: 'I would be the wife of the man of such-and-such a name, one bought with money (dhanakkītā).'" He accepts, sounds him out, and reports back — an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa).
A woman protected by her mother sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the man of such-and-such a name: 'I would be the wife of the man of such-and-such a name, one living with him by her own desire (chandavāsinī), … one living with him for the sake of wealth (bhogavāsinī), … one living with him for the sake of cloth (paṭavāsinī), … one wedded by the water-bowl ceremony (odapattakinī), … one whose head-pad has been set down (obhaṭacumbaṭā), … one who is both a slave and a wife (dāsī ca bhariyā ca), … one who is both a servant and a wife (kammakārī ca bhariyā ca), … one carried off under the flag — a captive (dhajāhaṭā), … a momentary wife (muhuttikā).'" He accepts, sounds him out, and reports back — an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha.
