[458] A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the woman of such-and-such a name, protected by her mother (māturakkhitā): 'Be, it is said, the wife of the man of such-and-such a name — a wife bought with money (dhanakkītā) and a wife living together by consent (chandavāsinī).'" He accepts, conveys the message, and brings back the reply: an offence of Saṅghādisesa. A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the woman of such-and-such a name, protected by her mother: 'Be, it is said, the wife of the man of such-and-such a name — a wife bought with money and a wife maintained by wealth (bhogavāsinī).'" … … "a wife bought with money and a wife maintained by cloth (paṭavāsinī)" … … "a wife bought with money and a wife by the water-bowl rite (odapattakinī)" … … "a wife bought with money and a wife relieved of the head-pad (obhaṭacumbaṭā)" … … "a wife bought with money and one who is both slave and wife (dāsī ca bhariyā)" … … "a wife bought with money and one who is both servant and wife (kammakārī ca bhariyā)" … … "a wife bought with money and a wife taken under the banner (dhajāhaṭā)" … … "a wife bought with money and a momentary wife (muhuttikā) of the man of such-and-such a name."
