[472] In the case of a woman protected by her mother (māturakkhitā), the mother sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and tell the man of such-and-such a name: 'May she become the wife of the man of such-and-such a name — both a wife bought with money (dhanakkītā) and a wife who lives together by her own desire (chandavāsinī).'" He accepts, inquires, and brings back the reply: an offense (āpatti) entailing saṅghādisesa.
