[475] In the case of a woman protected by a penalty (saparidaṇḍā), the one by whom the penalty has been decreed sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the man named so-and-so: 'May she be the wife of so-and-so — both a wife living together by consent (chandavāsinī) and a wife living together for wealth (bhogavāsinī) … both a wife living together by consent and a temporary wife (muhuttikā); both a wife living together by consent and a wife bought with money (dhanakkītā).'" If he accepts, inquires, and reports back, there is an offense of saṅghādisesa.
