Suttapiṭaka · Dīghanikāya · Pāthikavagga · Vol. 11 · Section 351

[351] There are, friends, nine teachings (dhammā) rightly proclaimed by that Blessed One who knows and sees, the Arahant, the Fully Awakened One. Therein all should recite in concert … for the benefit, welfare, and happiness of devas and humans. Which nine? Nine grounds of resentment (āghātavatthu): One harbors resentment, thinking, 'He has acted for my harm.' One harbors resentment, thinking, 'He is acting for my harm.' One harbors resentment, thinking, 'He will act for my harm.' Thinking, 'He has acted for the harm of one who is dear and agreeable to me,' 'He is acting for the harm of one who is dear and agreeable to me,' 'He will act for the harm of one who is dear and agreeable to me,' one harbors resentment. Thinking, 'He has acted for the benefit of one who is not dear and not agreeable to me,' 'He is acting for the benefit of one who is not dear and not agreeable to me,' 'He will act for the benefit of one who is not dear and not agreeable to me,' one harbors resentment.
