[275] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, relying upon virtue (sīla), established in virtue, developing the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, attain to greatness and expansiveness in dhammas? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment (vossagga) … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi), based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion, based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, relying upon virtue, established in virtue, developing the Noble Eightfold Path, cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, attains to greatness and expansiveness in dhammas."
