[265] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, depending on virtue (sīlaṃ nissāya), established upon virtue (sīle patiṭṭhāya), develop the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga) and cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi) based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmiṃ) … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi) based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion, based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, depending on virtue, established upon virtue, develops the Noble Eightfold Path and cultivates the Noble Eightfold Path."
