[464] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu who is heedful (appamatta) develop the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) and cultivate the seven factors of awakening? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the awakening factor of mindfulness (sati), which is dependent on seclusion (viveka), dependent on dispassion (virāga), dependent on cessation, maturing in relinquishment … he develops the awakening factor of equanimity, which is dependent on seclusion, dependent on dispassion, dependent on cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu who is heedful develops the seven factors of awakening and cultivates the seven factors of awakening."
