[521] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu who has a good friend (kalyāṇamitta) develop the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) and cultivate the seven factors of awakening? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the awakening factor of mindfulness (sati), based on seclusion (viveka) … he develops the awakening factor of equanimity, based on seclusion, based on dispassion (virāga), based on cessation, maturing in release (vossagga). It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu who has a good friend develops the seven factors of awakening and cultivates the seven factors of awakening." The Cakkavatti Chapter, the Fifth. Its summary verse: Vidhā, the Wheel-Turning Monarch, and Māra, the unwise one and the wise one, the poor one and the one not poor, the sun, and the two on the limb — these make ten. ______________ The Sextet on the Factors of Awakening, the Sixth.
