[517] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu who has a good friend (kalyāṇamitta) develop the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), and cultivate the seven factors of awakening? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the mindfulness factor of awakening, based upon seclusion (vivekanissitaṃ) … he develops the equanimity factor of awakening, based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion (virāganissitaṃ), based upon cessation (nirodhanissitaṃ), ripening in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmiṃ). It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu who has a good friend develops the seven factors of awakening, and cultivates the seven factors of awakening."
