[806] Bhikkhus, there are these four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. As he dwells thus contemplating the body in the body, whatever desire (chanda) there is regarding the body is abandoned; through the abandoning of desire, the deathless (amata) is realized.
