[102] **"Whatever":** whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhu":** … this is the bhikkhu intended in this context as "bhikkhu."
**"Not a relation" (aññātikā)** means: one unconnected through the mother or through the father, back through seven generations of paternal forebears.
**"Bhikkhunī"** means: one fully ordained (upasampannā) in both Saṅghas.
He commands, "Wash [them]": an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); once they are washed, they are subject to forfeiture (nissaggiya).
He commands, "Dye [them]": an offense of wrong-doing; once they are dyed, they are subject to forfeiture.
He commands, "Comb [them] out": an offense of wrong-doing; once they are combed out, they are subject to forfeiture — to be forfeited to a Saṅgha, to a group, or to an individual.
And thus, bhikkhus, should they be forfeited: … "Venerable sirs, this sheep's wool (eḷakalomāni) of mine, which I had washed by a bhikkhunī who is not a relation, is subject to forfeiture; I forfeit it to the Saṅgha." … "should give [it back]" … "should give [it back]" … "I give [it] to the venerable one."
