[246] One fully ordained (upasampanna), not desiring to insult, not desiring to disparage, not desiring to humiliate one fully ordained, but out of a desire to jest, addresses one of low [birth] in low terms — [addressing] a caṇḍāla, a bamboo-worker (veṇa), a hunter (nesāda), a chariot-maker (rathakāra), a refuse-sweeper (pukkusa) — saying: "You are a caṇḍāla; you are a bamboo-worker; you are a hunter; you are a chariot-maker; you are a refuse-sweeper": for each utterance, there is an offense of wrong speech (dubbhāsita).
