[247] One who is fully ordained (upasampanna), not wishing to jeer at, not wishing to disparage, not wishing to humiliate one who is fully ordained, but out of a desire to jest, speaks thus — he says: "There are here some caṇḍālas, some basket-weavers (veṇā), some hunters (nesādā), some cart-makers (rathakārā), some refuse-scavengers (pukkusā)" … he says: "There are here some who are wise, competent, intelligent, learned, speakers on the Dhamma; for them there is no bad destination — only a good destination is to be expected for them": there is an offense (āpatti) of wrong speech (dubbhāsita) for each and every utterance.
