[248] One who is fully ordained (upasampanna), not desiring to jeer at, not desiring to scorn, not desiring to humiliate one who is fully ordained, but desiring to jest (davakamyatā), speaks in indirect allusion thus — he says, "It must surely be those who are outcastes (caṇḍāla), bamboo-workers (veṇa), hunters (nesāda), cart-makers (rathakāra), refuse-workers (pukkusa)" … he says, "It must surely be those who are wise, competent, intelligent, learned, speakers of the Dhamma" — there is an offense of ill speech (dubbhāsita) for each and every utterance.
