[280] One fully ordained (upasampanna), having heard it from one fully ordained, carries malicious tale-bearing (pesuñña) to one fully ordained, saying: "The one named so-and-so says, 'Whoever they may be, surely they are caṇḍālas, basket-weavers, hunters, cartwrights, refuse-cleaners'; he does not speak of another, he speaks of you alone" — for each utterance, there is an offence (āpatti) of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). …
