[693] When the formal act is legitimate (dhammakamma), and he perceives it as a legitimate act, he deceives: an offense of pācittiya. When the formal act is legitimate, and he is in doubt, he deceives: an offense of pācittiya. When the formal act is legitimate, and he perceives it as an illegitimate act (adhammakamma), he deceives: an offense of pācittiya.
When the formal act is illegitimate, and he perceives it as a legitimate act, an offense of dukkaṭa. When the formal act is illegitimate, and he is in doubt, an offense of dukkaṭa. When the formal act is illegitimate, and he perceives it as an illegitimate act, an offense of dukkaṭa.
