[803] Origin at Sāvatthī (Sāvatthīnidānaṃ). Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus sat in an inhabited area (antaraghara) with the body uncovered. … "I will sit well-covered in an inhabited area" — thus should the training be undertaken.
One should sit well-covered in an inhabited area. Whoever, out of disrespect, sits in an inhabited area with the body uncovered: an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offense: if it is unintentional; if he is unmindful; if he does not know; if he is ill; if he has gone to a lodging; in emergencies; if he is insane; if he is the first offender (ādikammika).
