[815] Origin at Sāvatthī. Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus (bhikkhu) sat swaying the body in an inhabited area, letting the body droop. … "I shall not sit swaying the body in an inhabited area" — thus the training is to be observed.
One should not sit swaying the body in an inhabited area; one should sit holding the body steady. Whatever bhikkhu, out of disrespect, sits swaying the body in an inhabited area, letting the body droop, incurs an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offence: for one who acts unintentionally; for one who is unmindful; for one who does not know; for one who is ill; for one who has gone to his lodging; in emergencies; for one who is mad; for the first offender.
