[804] Origin at Sāvatthī. Now at that time the bhikkhus of the group of six went amid the houses playing about with their hands and with their feet. … "I will go well restrained amid the houses" — thus the training is to be observed.
One should go well restrained amid the houses. Whatever bhikkhu, out of disrespect, goes amid the houses playing about with hand or with foot, incurs an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offense: for one who does so unintentionally; for one who is unmindful; for one who does not know; for one who is ill; in emergencies; for one who is insane; for the first offender (ādikammika).
