[169] "Bhikkhus, I will teach you the wholesome (kusala) and the unwholesome (akusala). Listen to it and attend carefully; I will speak." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this: "And what, bhikkhus, is the unwholesome? The destruction of life (pāṇātipāta) … wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi): this, bhikkhus, is called the unwholesome. And what, bhikkhus, is the wholesome? Abstention from the destruction of life … right view (sammādiṭṭhi): this, bhikkhus, is called the wholesome."
