[168] "Bhikkhus, I will teach you the noble dhamma (ariyadhamma) and the ignoble dhamma (anariyadhamma). Listen to it and attend carefully; I will speak." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this: "And what, bhikkhus, is the ignoble dhamma? The destruction of life (pāṇātipāta) … wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi): this, bhikkhus, is called the ignoble dhamma. And what, bhikkhus, is the noble dhamma? Abstention from the destruction of life … right view (sammādiṭṭhi): this, bhikkhus, is called the noble dhamma."
