[344] When she has been invited¹, perceiving that she has been invited, if she chews or eats hard food (khādanīya) or soft food (bhojanīya), there is an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya). When she has been invited, being in doubt, if she chews or eats hard food or soft food, there is an offense entailing expiation. When she has been invited, perceiving that she has not been invited, if she chews or eats hard food or soft food, there is an offense entailing expiation.
If she accepts something consumable within a watch of the night (yāmakālika), something consumable within seven days (sattāhakālika), or something consumable for as long as life lasts (yāvajīvika) for the purpose of food, there is an offense of wrong conduct (dukkaṭa). For every mouthful swallowed, there is an offense of wrong conduct.
