[399] **"Whatever" (yā pana)** means: whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhunī"** means: … — this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense.
**"Co-ordained pupil" (sahajīvinī)**: one who is called a co-resident (saddhivihārinī).
**"Having sponsored her ordination" (vuṭṭhāpetvā)**: having given her the full ordination (upasampādetvā).
**"Should neither remove her"** means: should not remove her herself.
**"Nor have her removed"** means: should not command another.
At the mere laying down of the responsibility, [thinking,] "I will neither remove her nor have her removed, even for so much as five or six yojanas," there is an offense of pācittiya.
