[199] The meaning of seeing (dassanaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of application (abhiniropanaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of embracing (pariggahaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of origination (samuṭṭhānaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of cleansing (vodānaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of exertion (paggahaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of establishment (upaṭṭhānaṭṭha) is a meaning; the meaning of non-distraction (avikkhepaṭṭha) is a meaning. The meaning of seeing is one meaning; the meaning of application is another meaning; the meaning of embracing is another meaning; the meaning of origination is another meaning; the meaning of cleansing is another meaning; the meaning of exertion is another meaning; the meaning of establishment is another meaning; the meaning of non-distraction is another meaning. By whatever knowledge (ñāṇa) these different meanings are known, by that very knowledge these different meanings are penetrated. Therefore it is said: wisdom in the diversity of meanings is knowledge of the discrimination of meanings (attha-paṭisambhidā).
