[186] How is wisdom (paññā) in the diversity of meanings (attha) the knowledge (ñāṇa) of the discrimination of meanings (attha-paṭisambhidā); wisdom in the diversity of dhammas the knowledge of the discrimination of dhammas (dhamma-paṭisambhidā); wisdom in the diversity of language the knowledge of the discrimination of language (nirutti-paṭisambhidā); wisdom in the diversity of ready wit the knowledge of the discrimination of ready wit (paṭibhāṇa-paṭisambhidā)?
The faith faculty (saddhindriya) is a dhamma; the energy faculty (viriyindriya) is a dhamma; the mindfulness faculty (satindriya) is a dhamma; the concentration faculty (samādhindriya) is a dhamma; the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) is a dhamma. The faith faculty is one dhamma; the energy faculty is another dhamma; the mindfulness faculty is another dhamma; the concentration faculty is another dhamma; the wisdom faculty is another dhamma. By whatever knowledge these diverse dhammas are known, by that very same knowledge these diverse dhammas are penetrated. Therefore it is said: wisdom in the diversity of dhammas is the knowledge of the discrimination of dhammas.
