Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Paṭisambhidāmagga · Vol. 31 · Section 713

[713] And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu — depending on virtue, established in virtue — developing the five faculties (pañcindriyāni), cultivating the five faculties, attain growth, increase, and abundance in states (dhammā)? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the faith faculty (saddhindriya) dependent on seclusion (viveka), dependent on dispassion (virāga), dependent on cessation (nirodha), maturing in relinquishment (vossagga); he develops the energy faculty (viriyindriya) … he develops the mindfulness faculty (satindriya); he develops the concentration faculty (samādhindriya); he develops the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) dependent on seclusion, dependent on dispassion, dependent on cessation, maturing in relinquishment. For the faith faculty there are five seclusions, five dispassions, five cessations, five relinquishments, and twelve dependences (nissayā) … For the energy faculty … for the mindfulness faculty … for the concentration faculty, for the wisdom faculty there are five seclusions, five dispassions, five cessations, five relinquishments, and twelve dependences.
