[443] Which phenomena (dhammā) are indeterminate (abyākata)?
On the occasion when one develops supramundane (lokuttara) jhāna — which leads out (niyyānika), conducing to the dismantling [of the round] (apacayagāmī) — for the abandoning of wrong views (diṭṭhigata), for the attainment of the first plane (bhūmi), [and,] with the stilling of thought-conception and discursive thought (vitakka-vicāra), … the second jhāna … the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna … the first jhāna … enters and dwells in the fifth jhāna, of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge (dukkhāpaṭipada-dandhābhiñña), 'desireless (appaṇihita)' — this is the wholesome (kusala); … of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge, 'desireless' — this is the resultant (vipāka); … of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge, 'desireless' — this is the wholesome; … of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge, 'signless (animitta)' — this is the resultant; … of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge, 'desireless' — this is the wholesome; … of painful practice and sluggish superknowledge, 'empty (suññata)' — this is the resultant: on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) …
