[454] Which phenomena are indeterminate (abyākata)?
On the occasion when one develops supramundane (lokuttara) jhāna — leading out (niyyānika), tending to the dispersal (apacayagāmī) [of the round] — for the abandoning of views (diṭṭhigata), for the attainment of the first plane (bhūmi), [and,] with the subsiding of thought-conception (vitakka) and discursive thought (vicāra) … the second jhāna … the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna … the first jhāna … the fifth jhāna — [which] one enters upon and dwells in: "emptiness (suññata), with predominance of zeal (chandādhipateyya)" — wholesome (kusala); … "emptiness, with predominance of zeal" — resultant (vipāka); … "emptiness, with predominance of zeal" — wholesome; … "signless (animitta), with predominance of zeal" — resultant; … "emptiness, with predominance of zeal" — wholesome; … "desireless (appaṇihita), with predominance of zeal" — resultant: on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) …
