[635] Which is the form that is derived (upādā), clung to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya)? The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana), the femininity faculty (itthindriya), the masculinity faculty (purisindriya), the life faculty (jīvitindriya); or whatever other form there is due to kamma having been performed (kammassa katattā): the form base (rūpāyatana), the odor base (gandhāyatana), the taste base (rasāyatana), the space element (ākāsadhātu), the growth of form (rūpassa upacaya), the continuity of form (rūpassa santati), edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāro āhāro) — this is the form that is derived, clung to and subject to clinging. Which is the form that is derived, not clung to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya)? The sound base (saddāyatana), bodily intimation (kāyaviññatti), verbal intimation (vacīviññatti), the lightness of form (rūpassa lahutā), the pliancy of form (rūpassa mudutā), the wieldiness of form (rūpassa kammaññatā), the decay of form (rūpassa jaratā), the impermanence of form (rūpassa aniccatā); or whatever other form there is not due to kamma having been performed: the form base, the odor base, the taste base, the space element, the growth of form, the continuity of form, edible nutriment — this is the form that is derived, not clung to but subject to clinging. Which is the form that is non-derived (no-upādā), clung to and subject to clinging? The tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) and the water element (āpodhātu) due to kamma having been performed — this is the form that is non-derived, clung to and subject to clinging. Which is the form that is non-derived, not clung to but subject to clinging? The tangible base and the water element not due to kamma having been performed — this is the form that is non-derived, not clung to but subject to clinging.
