[756] Which phenomena (dhammā) are favorable to the hindrances (nīvaraṇiya)?
Wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate phenomena that are subject to taints (sāsava), belonging to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the form aggregate (rūpakkhandha) … the consciousness aggregate (viññāṇakkhandha) — these phenomena are favorable to the hindrances.
Which phenomena are not favorable to the hindrances (anīvaraṇiya)?
The paths (magga) that are not included [in the three spheres] (apariyāpanna), the fruits of the paths (maggaphala), and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are not favorable to the hindrances.
