[786] Which phenomena (dhammā) are subject to clinging (upādāniya)? Wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate (abyākata) phenomena accompanied by taints (sāsava), pertaining to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the aggregate of form (rūpakkhandha) … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) — these phenomena are subject to clinging.
Which phenomena are not subject to clinging (anupādāniya)? The unincluded (apariyāpanna) paths, and the fruits of the paths, and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are not subject to clinging.
