Abhidhammapiṭaka · Dhammasaṅgaṇī · Vol. 34 · Section 823

[823] Which phenomena (dhammā) are accompanied by sustained thought (savicāra)? On the plane (bhūmi) accompanied by sustained thought — in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), in the form sphere (rūpāvacara), and in the unincluded (apariyāpanna) — setting aside sustained thought (vicāra): the aggregate of feeling (vedanākkhandha) associated therewith … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) — these phenomena are accompanied by sustained thought. Which phenomena are without sustained thought (avicāra)? On the plane without sustained thought — in the sense sphere, in the form sphere, in the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and in the unincluded — the aggregate of feeling … the aggregate of consciousness; and sustained thought, and all form, and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are without sustained thought.
