[939] Which phenomena (dhammā) are associated with adherence (parāmāsasampayutta)?
The four arisings of mind (cittuppāda) associated with views (diṭṭhigata) — setting aside the adherence (parāmāsa) that has arisen therein — these phenomena are associated with adherence.
Which phenomena are dissociated from adherence (parāmāsavippayutta)?
The four arisings of mind accompanied by greed (lobha) but dissociated from views, the two arisings of mind accompanied by grief (domanassa), the arising of mind accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), the arising of mind accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), the wholesome (kusala) in the four planes (bhūmi), the resultant (vipāka) in the four planes, the functional indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) in the three planes, and form (rūpa) and Nibbāna — these phenomena are dissociated from adherence.
Adherence is not to be said to be either associated with adherence or dissociated from adherence.
