[960] Which phenomena (dhammā) are both clingings (upādāna) and associated with clinging (upādāna-sampayutta)? Wherein view (diṭṭhi) and greed (lobha) arise together — these phenomena are both clingings and associated with clinging.
Which phenomena are associated with clinging but not clingings? The eight arisings of consciousness (cittuppāda) accompanied by greed, excluding the clingings arisen therein — these phenomena are associated with clinging but not clingings.
Phenomena dissociated from clinging (upādāna-vippayutta) should not be spoken of either as "both clingings and associated with clinging" or as "associated with clinging but not clingings."
