[1042] And how does there come to be [the thought] "I am lasting" (asasmi)? Having made no separation of any phenomenon (dhamma) whatsoever — form (rūpa), feeling (vedanā), perception (saññā), volitional formations (saṅkhārā), consciousness (viññāṇa) — [one thinks]: "I am permanent, I am stable, I am eternal, I am not subject to change." Thus there comes to be [the thought] "I am lasting."
