[14] [P.] Is the person (puggala) not apprehended in the true and ultimate sense (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭha)?

[P.] Is the person not apprehended everywhere in the true and ultimate sense?
[S.] It should not be said thus.
[P.] Acknowledge the refutation (niggaha): If the person is not apprehended in the true and ultimate sense, then indeed, sir, it should be said, "The person is not apprehended everywhere in the true and ultimate sense." What you say there — that it should indeed be said, "The person is not apprehended in the true and ultimate sense," yet it should not be said, "The person is not apprehended everywhere in the true and ultimate sense" — is wrong. But if it should not be said, "The person is not apprehended everywhere in the true and ultimate sense," then indeed, sir, it should not be said, "The person is not apprehended in the true and ultimate sense." What you say there — that it should indeed be said, "The person is not apprehended in the true and ultimate sense," yet it should not be said, "The person is not apprehended everywhere in the true and ultimate sense" — is wrong. …
