[13] Sakavādin: Is the person (puggala) apprehended in the real and ultimate sense (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭha)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: Is the person apprehended in all things (sabbesu) in the real and ultimate sense?
Paravādin: It should not be said thus.
Sakavādin: Acknowledge the refutation (niggaha): If the person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense, then indeed, good sir, it should be said, "The person is apprehended in all things in the real and ultimate sense." What you say there — that it should indeed be said, "The person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense," but it should not be said, "The person is apprehended in all things in the real and ultimate sense" — is wrong. But if it should not be said, "The person is apprehended in all things in the real and ultimate sense," then indeed, good sir, it should not be said, "The person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense." What you say there — that it should indeed be said, "The person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense," but it should not be said, "The person is apprehended in all things in the real and ultimate sense" — is wrong. …
