[1528] "Should it not be said: 'One who is face to face [with the fetters] (sammukhībhūta) abandons the fetter (saññojana)'?" — "Yes."
"But was it not said by the Blessed One: 'For him who knows thus and sees thus, the mind (citta) is liberated even from the taint of sensuality (kāmāsava) … the mind is liberated even from the taint of ignorance (avijjāsava)' — and is there not indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?" — "Yes."
"Then, surely, one who is face to face [with them] abandons the fetter."
