Sakavādin: Is it not to be said: "The Saṅgha accepts an offering (dakkhiṇā)"?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: Are there not some who give a gift (dāna) to the Saṅgha?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: If there are some who give a gift to the Saṅgha, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "The Saṅgha accepts an offering."
Sakavādin: Are there not some who give robes (cīvara) to the Saṅgha, … who give almsfood (piṇḍapāta), who give lodging (senāsana), who give medicinal requisites for the sick (gilānapaccaya-bhesajja-parikkhāra), who give hard food (khādanīya), who give soft food (bhojanīya), … who give drinking water?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: If there are some who give drinking water to the Saṅgha, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "The Saṅgha accepts an offering."
