[1723] S. It should not be said that a gift given to the Saṅgha bears great fruit? P. Yes. S. Were not the four pairs of persons (purisayuga), the eight individual persons (purisapuggala), declared by the Blessed One to be worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya)? P. Yes. S. If the four pairs of persons, the eight individual persons, were declared by the Blessed One to be worthy of offerings, then indeed, good sir, you should say that a gift given to the Saṅgha bears great fruit.
