[1714] S. Should it not be said: "The Saṅgha purifies an offering (dakkhiṇā)"? P. Yes. S. But were not the four pairs of persons, the eight individual persons, declared by the Blessed One to be worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya)? P. Yes. S. If the four pairs of persons, the eight individual persons, were declared by the Blessed One to be worthy of offerings, then indeed, good sir, you should say: "The Saṅgha purifies an offering."
