Abhidhammapiṭaka · Kathāvatthu · Vol. 37 · Section 569

[569] S. — Is there guidance by others (paravitāraṇā) for the Arahant? P. — Yes. S. — But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, not directly knowing the all, not fully understanding it, not becoming dispassionate towards it, not abandoning it, one is incapable of the destruction of suffering (dukkha); but indeed, bhikkhus, directly knowing the all, fully understanding it, becoming dispassionate towards it, abandoning it, one is capable of the destruction of suffering" — is there indeed such a discourse? P. — Yes. S. — Then indeed it should not be said, "There is guidance by others for the Arahant."
