Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1121

[1121] For whomever the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) does not cease, does the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) not cease for that one? Apart from in-breathing and out-breathing (assāsa-passāsa), at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of thought (vitakka) and examination (vicāra), the bodily formation of those [beings] does not cease, but it is not the case that their verbal formation does not cease. For all [beings] at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta); at the moment of the dissolution of a mind without thought and without examination, apart from in-breathing and out-breathing; for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna); and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — their bodily formation does not cease and their verbal formation does not cease. Or rather, for whomever the verbal formation does not cease, does the bodily formation not cease for that one? Apart from thought and examination, at the moment of the dissolution of in-breathing and out-breathing, the verbal formation of those [beings] does not cease, but it is not the case that their bodily formation does not cease. For all [beings] at the moment of the arising of mind; at the moment of the dissolution of a mind without thought and without examination, apart from in-breathing and out-breathing; for those who have attained cessation; and for non-percipient beings — their verbal formation does not cease and their bodily formation does not cease.
