Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1172

[1172] For whomever, wherever, the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) has ceased, will the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) cease for that one there? At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who have attained the second jhāna and the third jhāna — for them, there, the bodily formation has ceased, but for them, there, the verbal formation will not cease. For those who have attained the first jhāna, and for the other beings of the sense sphere — for them, there, the bodily formation has ceased and the verbal formation will cease. Or, for whomever, wherever, the verbal formation will cease, has the bodily formation ceased for that one there? For beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and beings of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara) — for them, there, the verbal formation will cease, but for them, there, the bodily formation has not ceased. For those who have attained the first jhāna, and for beings of the sense sphere — for them, there, the verbal formation will cease and the bodily formation has ceased.
