[1194] For whomever, wherever, the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) will arise, will the mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) cease for that one there?
Yes (āmantā).
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the mental formation will cease, will the bodily formation arise for that one there?
For sense-sphere (kāmāvacara) beings at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta); for those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind of sense-sphere beings will arise; for those who have attained the fourth jhāna; for form-sphere (rūpāvacara) beings; and for formless-sphere (arūpāvacara) beings — for them, there, the mental formation will cease, but the bodily formation will not arise for them there. For those who have attained the first jhāna, the second jhāna, or the third jhāna, and for the other sense-sphere beings — for them, there, the mental formation will cease and the bodily formation will arise.
