Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1193

[1193] For whomever and wherever the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) will arise, will the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) cease for that one there? For those who have attained the second jhāna or the third jhāna, the bodily formation will arise for them there, but the verbal formation will not cease for them there. For those who have attained the first jhāna and for sense-sphere (kāmāvacara) beings, the bodily formation will arise for them there and the verbal formation will cease. Or rather, for whomever and wherever the verbal formation will cease, will the bodily formation arise for that one there? For sense-sphere beings at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta), for those immediately after whose mind the final mind of sense-sphere beings will arise, and for form-sphere (rūpāvacara) and formless-sphere (arūpāvacara) beings, the verbal formation will cease for them there, but the bodily formation will not arise for them there. For those who have attained the first jhāna and for the other sense-sphere beings, the verbal formation will cease for them there and the bodily formation will arise.
