[1231] In whom the latent tendency (anusaya) of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya), the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya), the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya), the latent tendency of view (diṭṭhānusaya), and the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) lie latent, does the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) … does the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) lie latent in him? Yes. Or, in whom the latent tendency of ignorance lies latent, do the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of view, and the latent tendency of doubt lie latent in him? In the non-returner (anāgāmī), the latent tendency of ignorance and the latent tendency of conceit lie latent, but the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of view, and the latent tendency of doubt do not lie latent in him. In two persons, the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, and the latent tendency of conceit lie latent, but the latent tendency of view and the latent tendency of doubt do not lie latent in them. In the ordinary person (puthujjana), the latent tendency of ignorance lies latent, and the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of view, and the latent tendency of doubt lie latent.
