[1343] Whoever is without the latent tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya) in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya) in that place? Three persons, in painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of repulsion in that place. Those same persons, in the form element (rūpadhātu), in the formless element (arūpadhātu), and in what is not included (apariyāpanna): they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of repulsion in that place. Two persons, everywhere, are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of repulsion. Or rather, whoever is without the latent tendency of repulsion in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place? Three persons, in the two feelings of the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): they are without the latent tendency of repulsion in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. Those same persons, in the form element, in the formless element, and in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of repulsion and without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. Two persons, everywhere, are without the latent tendency of repulsion and without the latent tendency of sensual lust. Whoever is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya) in that place? Three persons, in the form element and in the formless element: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of conceit in that place. Those same persons, in painful feeling and in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of conceit in that place. The non-returner (anāgāmī), in the two feelings of the sense-sphere element, in the form element, and in the formless element: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but he is not without the latent tendency of conceit in that place. That same person, in painful feeling and in what is not included: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of conceit in that place. The Arahant, everywhere, is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of conceit. Or rather, whoever is without the latent tendency of conceit in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place? Yes. Whoever is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) in that place? The ordinary person (puthujjana), in painful feeling, in the form element, and in the formless element: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but he is not without the latent tendency of doubt in that place. That same person, in what is not included: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of doubt in that place. Two persons, everywhere, are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of doubt. Or rather, whoever is without the latent tendency of doubt in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place? Two persons, in the two feelings of the sense-sphere element: they are without the latent tendency of doubt in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. Those same persons, in painful feeling, in the form element, in the formless element, and in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of doubt and without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. Two persons, everywhere, are without the latent tendency of doubt and without the latent tendency of sensual lust. Whoever is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) in that place? Three persons, in the form element and in the formless element: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of lust for existence in that place. Those same persons, in painful feeling and in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of lust for existence in that place. The non-returner, in the form element and in the formless element: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but he is not without the latent tendency of lust for existence in that place. That same person, in the three feelings of the sense-sphere element and in what is not included: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of lust for existence in that place. The Arahant, everywhere, is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of lust for existence. Or rather, whoever is without the latent tendency of lust for existence in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place? Three persons, in the two feelings of the sense-sphere element: they are without the latent tendency of lust for existence in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. Those same persons, in painful feeling and in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of lust for existence and without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place. The Arahant, everywhere, is without the latent tendency of lust for existence and without the latent tendency of sensual lust. Whoever is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) in that place? Three persons, in painful feeling, in the form element, and in the formless element: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but they are not without the latent tendency of ignorance in that place. Those same persons, in what is not included: they are without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of ignorance in that place. The non-returner, in the three feelings of the sense-sphere element, in the form element, and in the formless element: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place, but he is not without the latent tendency of ignorance in that place. That same person, in what is not included: he is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of ignorance in that place. The Arahant, everywhere, is without the latent tendency of sensual lust and without the latent tendency of ignorance. Or rather, whoever is without the latent tendency of ignorance in any given place — is he without the latent tendency of sensual lust in that place? Yes.
