[1320] Whoever is possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya), the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya), the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya), the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya), the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya), and the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) from wherever — is he possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) from there? There is none. Or else, whoever is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance from wherever — is he possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there? The Non-Returner (anāgāmī), in regard to painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. That same person, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance and the latent tendency of conceit from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. That same person, in regard to the form element (rūpadhātu) and the formless element (arūpadhātu): he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt from there. Two persons, in regard to the form element and the formless element: they are possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there, but they are not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt from there. Those same persons, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: they are possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of conceit from there, but they are not possessed of the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. Those same persons, in regard to painful feeling: they are possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance and the latent tendency of repulsion from there, but they are not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. The ordinary person (puthujjana), in regard to the form element and the formless element: he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion from there. That same person, in regard to the two feelings in the sense-sphere element: he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of repulsion and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. That same person, in regard to painful feeling: he is possessed of the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt from there, but he is not possessed of the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of lust for existence from there. The anuloma (forward order) is finished.
